Item description: * See scan - perfect condition. This is probably the rarest Bulgarian medal. This is the Bulgarian Royal Prince / King Ferdinand I GOLD Merit medal with diamonds. Medal was manufactured in Austria and made out of 18 karat solid gold and special 18 karat gold buttons with an emerald cut diamond in center of each button. Special buttons to go with the ribbon. This solid gold Merit medal is with the Princely type crown and is the ONLY such piece known to exist - there is no such one even in the National Museum... The Prince Ferdianand issue GOLD Merit Medal with Princely crown has been awarded to only 7 people - 1 Bulgarian and 6 foreign Kings and Emperors. This particular medal probably belonged to the first Bulgarian Regent after the abdication of Prince Batenberg - Stefan Stambolov. This is an UNIQUE and extremely scarce item. Probably is worth at least double the listing price... A true collector item and a great opportunity to own a Bulgarian Royal Militaria item that no one other has. Further important fact is that the Gold Merit Medal has been awarded to only 67 people in the whole history of Bulgaria adding all medals from the periods of reign of Batenberg, Ferdinand and Boris. The Gold medal could have only be awarded to people that has already received the St. Alexander Grand Cross and some other highest Bulgarian decorations. Imagine how tough it was this medal to be awarded.
