Item description: * Important Panthere de Cartier Panther Collection Feline platinum ring fully paved with diamonds and having a gross diamond weight of 6.72 carats. The ring is Cartier model number N4196400. All diamonds are round brilliant cut of exceptional D-E color and VVS clarity and the ring is finely set and paved in the best Cartier style with nearly 640 diamonds. The panther nose is a calibre cut buff top onyx gem and both eyes are superb vivid green Colombian emeralds of finest quality. The ring is hallmarked for PT950 platinum and gross weight is 31.1 grams. Ring size is 51 (UK size L / US size 5 ¾). The paws of the panther are made en tremblant so they slightly move while worn. The head of the panther is also capable of being turned just slightly from one side to another. This ring has been made in a very limited circulation (probably 30-50 pcs.) and is being offered as Cartier High Jewelry solely through top Cartier boutiques worldwide. Please note that not all Cartier stores offer this ring for sale, but boutiques in Paris, London, Geneva, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and several others have been offering it. As per November 2011 current retail price in Europe was 92,400 EUR which roughly corresponds to about $125,000 US Dollars. This particular ring is also signed Cartier, numbered with respective inventory umber, as well as marked with couple of additional maker’s marks and hallmarks. The ring is in absolutely perfect condition with nearly no signs of wear and comes with original Cartier red leather pouch. Provenance: 1. purchased in 2008 from Cartier boutique in Germany; 2. purchased directly through auction sale (Historia, Sep. 2011, Lot. 58). The ring is LIFETIME GUARANTEED original and authentic Cartier piece from one of the top of the fashion line pieces produced by the Cartier firm and is hardly seen for sale outside of Cartier boutiques. The majestic and symbolically powerful collection entitled the Panther Collection includes beautiful panther inspired diamond encrusted pieces. The inspiration for the collection comes from Jeanne Toussaint, a lady who joined the company in the late 1910s and became the muse of Louis Cartier, who gave her the pet name of Panther to signify her strong personality and cat-like outbursts of temper. The feline motif is a tribute to devastating seduction, mysterious beauty and untamed character. In 1914 Cartier commissioned artist, George Barbier, to create Lady with Panther to serve as an invitation cover for a jewelry exhibition to welcome the entrance of the panther collection into the House of Cartier. In 1947 Cartier created its first fully three-dimensional creation of the animal when the Duke of Windsor placed an order for a panther brooch for the Duchess. One year later the Windsor’s took delivery of a cabochon sapphire of 152.35 carats with a seated diamond panther flecked with sapphire spots. Only the most skilled craftsmen are able to successfully bring this concept to life the way the Cartier has. The development as a theme is closely woven into the threads of both Cartier’s history and its ongoing creations and is likely to serve as a reminder of the elegance and powerful spirit behind the Cartier name.
