Item description: * Being one of the finest examples of late Art Deco style platinum jewelry, the present 7 carat diamond ear clips / earrings are fashioned to resemble two grand flower bouquets. Both earrings sparkle with finely graduated diamonds of different shapes, including round brilliant cut, baguette and marquise pieces. All diamonds are superbly polished and cut and possess an average D/E color and VVS clarity. There are a total of 16 marquise corner set diamonds, 38 round brilliants in open setting and 48 baguette cut diamonds channel set throughout both ear clips. Total estimated diamond weight for this grand pair is 7 carats and both earrings have a gross weight of 20.5 grams of platinum. Size of each ear clip is 33.5x25mm. Apparently the set has been custom made and crafted to order, so that no hallmarks or maker marks are present, except for two identical scratched inventory numbers to inner side of clasps reading 01669. This exceptional pair could be attributed to any of the major jewelry firms of that time like Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Tiffany & Co., Boucheron, etc., but given the inventory number, the style of work and previously known sales of similar Art Deco custom order ear clips made without maker’s marks in original signed cases, happen not to be uncustomary for the Cartier firm in the late 1930ies. Therefore with a fair amount of certainty, we can well attribute this pair of ear clips to the Cartier firm. Scarce and fantastic antique jewelry / jewellery collector set and one of the rare Art Deco diamond ear clips, earrings and jewels in general. Possibly Cartier.
